I finally found the bat shit crazy piece for my dining wall, and I’m absolutely thrilled with how it turned out! It’s one of those moments where creativity and a little bit of “juggaad” (a great term for makeshift or innovative fixes) come together to create something totally unique.
The Backstory of My Juggaaaad Wall Art
It all started with this beautifully carved wood piece I stumbled upon. The intricate desi carvings were stunning, but the problem was, it wasn’t functional for anything. I didn’t want to create a traditional desi piece, though. I was completely stuck on art deco, so I started playing around with the materials.
Enter the discarded frames—found in a photo frame shop that was getting rid of them. I rescued these and began experimenting with ways to give the wall a fresh, unexpected twist.
Balancing Tradition and Art Deco
I quickly realized that if I just used the carved wood piece, it would feel too traditional for my taste. So, I needed something to break up the traditional aesthetic without losing its charm. That’s when the idea hit—why not add a modern touch? I found this 12-inch rimless mirror and decided to place it at one end of the frame, balancing it with the carved piece at the other end.
Tada!!! My Creation
And there it was—my own little masterpiece! I’m so thrilled with how it turned out—a mix of desi carvings, discarded frames, and a modern, minimal mirror. It’s the perfect blend of traditional and contemporary, and the exposed brick wall behind it only adds to the charm. Sometimes, the most unconventional pieces come from a bit of experimentation and a lot of juggaaaad!
Tips for Creating Your Own Unique Wall Art:
-
- Repurpose Discarded Materials: Keep an eye out for discarded frames, old wood carvings, or any piece that sparks creativity. It doesn’t have to be functional to be beautiful.
-
- Mix Styles: Don’t be afraid to combine traditional with modern elements. Balancing different aesthetics can create something truly unique and personal.
-
- Play with Balance: Try to find harmony in the arrangement of the elements. A mix of shapes—like a round mirror and a rectangular frame—can add visual interest.
I couldn’t be happier with my wall décor and can’t wait to experiment with more ideas! Who knows what other bat shit crazy creations will come next?. All that matters is that I like it!!
