Joy vs Validation: Why Chasing Approval Brings Misery, Not Happiness

Chasing validation is a straight road to misery. A partner’s nod and approval, an employer’s praise, a peer’s recognition – we imagine, it will bring joy. But it never does. The moment fades, and we’re left hungry for more. It makes us insecure and desperately want to control. Because validation is born out of fear.

Fear of loss. Fear of not being enough. And from fear, we cling. We manipulate. We blame. We resent. It corrodes us from the inside out.

Joy is born of fullness.
A heart that is already enough. A heart that gives, heals, embraces. Joy does not cling . It just happens and it allows. Joy lets go.

It slips into the ordinary and makes it holy: the steam of coffee, sunlight stroking your skin, sweat glistening after a workout, light falling tenderly across a lover’s body, sunlit corners of a home or laughter of your loved ones. It is not tied to achievements, it is tied to the moment and being.

Validation is borrowed. Joy is yours. Because joy depends only on us , on our willingness to see.

So the question is simple, sharp, and sacred all at once:
Am I willing to see? Or am I waiting to be seen
