Tales of Everyday Joy (talesofeverydayjoy.com) is run by Roopa Vittal in Bangalore, India. This page explains what personal information the site collects, why, and what you can ask me to do with it. I keep it to what I actually use.
What I collect, and why
When you join the Joy Circle (email list)
Your email address, and your name if you give it. It is stored with MailerLite, which sends the Five Days to Joy emails, the free workbooks and occasional updates. You can unsubscribe from any email at any time.
When you use the contact form
Your name, email address and message. I use them only to reply to you. The message reaches me by email, and a copy of the form entry may pass through the site’s email service.
When you enquire about a workshop, reading or talk
The details you send in the contact form, such as your organisation, group size and dates. I use them to reply and to plan the event. For events involving teenagers, parental or guardian consent is arranged through the organiser or parent, not collected through this site.
Comments
If comments are open on a post, I collect what the form asks for, plus your IP address and browser details to help filter spam.
Visit statistics and security
The site uses Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) and Jetpack Stats to see which pages are read, from roughly which country, and on what kind of device. These tools use cookies or similar identifiers. The site’s security plugin logs IP addresses and failed login attempts to block attacks.
Services that handle your information
- MailerLite, for the email list.
- Google (Analytics, Site Kit) and Automattic (Jetpack), for visit statistics.
- Instagram / Meta, when a page shows an Instagram post or reel. Meta may set its own cookies when that content loads.
- Amazon, when you follow a link to buy the book. Amazon’s own privacy policy applies from that point.
- My web host and email provider, which store the site and the messages sent through it.
I do not sell your information, and I do not share it with anyone else for their own marketing.
How long I keep it
Email list details stay until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them. Contact and enquiry messages are kept for as long as needed to reply and follow up, and then deleted. Statistics are kept in aggregate form by the services above under their own settings.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe using the link in any email.
- Ask what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it, using the contact page.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works, though some embedded content may not load.
I handle personal information in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, as it applies to a small independent site like this one.
Children
The site and the email list are meant for adults. Workshops for teens are booked through a parent, school or organisation, not through direct sign-up on this site.
Changes to this page
If I change how the site handles information, I will update this page and the date at the top.
